An Exhibition of stone floors installed to form an innovative segmented path.
Just as woven rugs were laid on the ground along the streets and markets of ancient cities in the Middle East at regular intervals to be washed and cleaned by the feet of passers-by, so the stone pavings collected in the theme exhibition in Hall 1 at Marmomacc are laid along a walk-over route leading into a solid stone space rich in textures, design and colours that only natural stone can achieve.
The “Carpets of Stone” exhibition curated by Raffaello Galiotto and Vincenzo Pavan is developed rather like a collage of stone carpets along a course crossing the hall longitudinally, separating the various shows and obliging visitors to walk over a stone patchwork.
Each stone floor differs from all the others as the outcome of a personal project conceived by international designers invited to collaborate with Italian companies in stone sector. Design creativity and the precision and quality of execution by these companies highlight the infinite possibilities for interpretation, texture and colours offered by stone materials. Compositions range from the two-dimensional surfaces of interior stone floors to external stone walk-over surfaces that can also accommodate items of street furniture.
